New Vocal Competition to Bring Future Stars to Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne, Indiana (Nov 13, 2023) - Heartland Sings brings an exciting new national vocal competition and a vibrant operatic performance of A Night at the Opera to the Summit City this spring.

The Heartland Sings 2024 Vocal Competition will feature emerging opera singers from around the country competing for cash prizes. The competition runs from May 20th-22nd. Winners will be announced at the Heartland Sings Season Finale Concert, A Night at the Opera on May 22, 2024. The competition and concert will take place at Rhinehart Music Center on the Purdue Fort Wayne Campus.


This unique competition involves a preliminary round of auditions via digital submission starting this month. Vocalists may apply November 13, 2023 through January 20, 2024 at HeartlandSings.org. An announcement of semi-finalists will take place on February 20th, 2024. Semi-finalists then travel to Fort Wayne to compete on May 20th with the final round taking place during Heartland Sings' May 22nd production of A Night at the Opera, at Auer Performance Hall at 7:30 PM. All semi-finalists will perform in that production with a full orchestra under the baton of Maestro Robert Nance, Heartland Sings’ founder and artistic director.


Prizes are as follows: 1st Place $3,000, 2nd Place $2,000, 3rd Place $1,000, and the Outstanding Indiana Artist Award $1,000.
