HCC Announces Successful Season Featuring Four Initiatives: Arts, Education, Community, Life

May 3, 2010 – Fort Wayne. Heartland Chamber Chorale reaches a milestone today in meeting a challenge grant which will help the organization maintain its place as the premier professional chorus in Northeastern Indiana. The matching campaign resulted in many new members and intensified the support from current members. We are unveiling an American Music initiative which will include our opening concert in honor of Lynne Salomon and our final concert which will feature the world premiere of the oratorio “Sing a New Song” by Northern Indiana composer, Howard Terrill. Heartland Chamber Chorale and South Bend Chamber Singers continue their successful collaboration in support of American music.

The Chorale continues its support for education with the Side by Side high school singers and choirs. Today we will award scholarships to the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, University of Saint Francis Music Department, and the IPFW Music Department. The third initiative emphasizes the Chorale’s commitment to the community with our Heartland Sings: We are the Dream, free concert with Pilgrim Baptist Church; and HCC’s Yom HaShoah Commemoration, a free community concert sponsored by the Fort Wayne Jewish Federation. Today HCC presents checks to the Community Harvest Food Bank, Associated Churches Food Bank, and the Fort Wayne Jewish Federation. The money comes from generous free-will donations at these concerts.

Heartland Chamber Chorale expands its community mission with a benefit concert titled Heartland Sings: For the Cure in which the profits will be donated to breast cancer research organizations. This concert will raise money and increase awareness of the issues surrounding breast cancer which touches both men and women. Many individuals, many foundations and many corporations support the goals of Heartland Chamber Chorale and together we are changing lives through song.
