October 21, 2008 – FORT WAYNE, IN. The Heartland Chamber Chorale presents The Three Hermits by Stephen Paulus, a delightful Family Opera that children of all ages will love! Based on the short story by Leo Tolstoy, The Three Hermits tells the story of three unusual men on an island and how they teach an Archbishop about faith and love. Join the Archbishop, his mother and a group of pilgrims for a sweet story with mystery, hope and love sung in English suitable for all ages. Prior to the performance on Sunday afternoon (from 3:15 to 3:45), the composer, Stephen Paulus, and UCC Pastor John Gardner will tell the story of the opera and answer any questions about the composition. Stephen Paulus is America’s most prolific composer and is visiting Fort Wayne from St. Paul, Minnesota to attend our performance on Sunday. The final chorus from The Three Hermits, “The Pilgrim’s Chorus” is a favorite in both church and concert settings.
