Fort Wayne Jewish Federation and HCC announce two events observing Yom HaShoah

April 15, 2008 – FORT WAYNE, IN. The Heartland Chamber Chorale will present a Yom HaShoah commemoration concert. This program will include a dramatic work entitled “A Holocaust Cantata: Songs from the Camps” by Don McCollough, and feature a new composition commissioned by the Fort Wayne Jewish Federation, written by Robert Nance and sung by the Heartland Chamber Chorale. Mr. Nance’s composition sets to music the words of a poem by Charlie Savage, winner of the Federation’s poetry contest. Mr. Savage is a Fort Wayne native and 2007 Pulitzer Prize winner. This concert is sponsored in part by the Dr. Louis A. & Anne B. Schneider Foundation, and is free to the public. A free-will offering to benefit the Fort Wayne Jewish Federation educational programming.

Later that week, on May 1, 2008 at 7PM, the Jewish Federation will sponsor a community Yom HaShoah Commemoration service at Temple Achduth Vesholom. This program will feature the HCC, under the direction of Robert Nance repeating his new composition with Mr. Savage reading his words. “I have been profoundly moved each time I have conducted music relating to the experience of the
