My life has been changed through song by the sheer beauty and complex harmonies of the music I have learned and performed over the years. Song has given me joy. My heart is filled with happiness and my soul feels complete when song is in my heart.
Song has given me hope. In times of struggle or sadness, song can fill the void.
Song has given me assurance in my faith journey. There are times when I feel closest to God during worship through song.
Song has given me confidence. It gives me a sense of accomplishment that I can excel at something and share it with others.
Song has given me leadership skills. In being able to perform in front of audiences and put myself out there through music, I have been able to lead in my chosen career.
Song has given me community. My best relationships through my life have been kindled within the different choirs I have sung in. The ultimate relationship song has given me is my husband, for I met him through sharing the gift of song.
Song enriches my heart, my soul, and my being. When I was a day camp counselor in my teen years, a little girl told me that you can live without music. I was taken aback, and realized that actually, no, I cannot live without music. I am not sure how to go about life without a song in my heart.
Song is a vital part of my existence, and a cherished gift I hold dear.
